Sheffield Doc/Fest has appointed Liz McIntyre from the Discovery Channel as its new CEO and festival director.
She has had a long involvement with Doc/Fest as a member of the advisory committee which has included chairing the University of Sheffield’s Meet the Academics session, actively participating in MeetMarket, as well as executive producing the annual commissioner panels.
McIntyre is additionally head of masterschool for Documentary Campus which has co-presented the industry conference sessions at Sheffield Doc/Fest since 2011. She is also a supporter of the British Science Association, focusing on women scientists in the media.
At Discovery she is currently VP production and development responsible for commissioning original factual content for the global market, as well heading up factual commissions for Discovery UK and Quest.

The successor to Heather Croall, who has returned to her native Australia, will take up the position on September 1.
In the meantime Sheffield Doc/Fest 2015 from June 5-10 will be administered by acting festival director Mark Atkin.
The full festival line-up will be announced on May 7.
