By: Vampire Weekend
Album: Modern Vampires Of The City
Verdict: New York’s indie rockers - Ezra Koenig, Rostam Batmanglij, Chris Tomson and Chris Baio - are back with their eagerly awaited third record, which has been three years in the making since 2010’s Contra. Billed as “the last of a trilogy” by frontman Koenig, who also described the album as “darker and more organic”, Modern Vampires Of The City remains upbeat in places, showing the group’s varying influences. Opening with the mellow Obvious Bicycle, the tempo soon picks up with Unbelievers. Koenig’s poignant lyrics remain pertinent and repeated listens only increase the pleasure.
