It will be a party in the park when Sheffield ‘music royalty’ Richard Hawley headlines a new event in his home city.
The green surroundings of Graves Park will provide the backdrop Under the Big Top, a two-day musical extravaganza.
The event will kick off on Friday, July 12, with Hawley, who grew up in Pitsmoor, taking to the stage in the top slot the following night. It will be a one-off local gig for the Mercury Prize nominee.
Family-run events company FGOWI Ltd, of Walkley, is hoping to attract big crowds to its first festival.
Carly Whitfield, of FGOWI Ltd, said: “We are ecstatic to be promoting a Sheffield-bred star in his hometown following his string of recent successes.
“His album Standing at The Sky’s Edge topped a stream of Best Album polls and he gained a BRIT Award nomination. Tickets to his last show at Sheffield City Hall sold out in 15 minutes.
“Hawley now counts Sheffield legends, the likes of Jarvis Cocker and Alex Turner among others, as fans.”
Rock band The Levellers have also been added to the bill.
