As one of the world’s biggest heartthrobs, Harry Styles is rarely found without a horde of screaming fans behind him.
But the One Direction star kept it low key when he came to Sheffield to celebrate his big sister’s graduation.
And while Harry has stepped out on to the stage in front of thousands at the Motorpoint Arena and around the world, it was his sister Gemma on whom the spotlight shone as she collected her degree at Sheffield City Hall.
Harry, aged 19, and his mum Anne Twist sat among hundreds of fellow families of Sheffield Hallam University graduates as 22-year-old Gemma accepted her first class honours degree in Science Education with Qualified Teacher Status.
And despite making up one fifth of the biggest boyband since the Beatles, Harry maintained a low profile.
The university was made aware of his attendance prior to the visit, but chose to keep it under wraps until the ceremony was over to ensure celebrations of the success of all their students were not overshadowed by the huge star sitting in the audience.
The mere sight of the curly-mopped pop star has been known to send many a teenage girl into a frenzy, so it must have been a welcome break to have so little commotion around him.
One onlooker said: “Other graduates could see that he was there but there wasn’t much fuss because people were there principally to celebrate their achievements. But of course, a few people got photos.”
Once the formalities were over Gemma and Harry posed for official photographs which were posted on the Sheffield Hallam University Twitter feed.
Harry posted a congratulatory message of his own on Twitter, saying: “My sister graduated today, she’s all clever and that.”
When Harry’s not on the road with 1D he and Gemma both still live at home in Cheshire, and his closeness to his family is well-known.
He often visited Gemma’s halls of residence while she studied here in Sheffield, and he has her name tattooed in Hebrew on his left shoulder.
For many fans, that’s what makes him beautiful.
