A “marvellous line-up of folk, acoustic, roots and blues” is promised at a showcase for the Doncaster Folk Festival.
The festival takes place from Friday to Sunday, May 20 to 22, 2016 – but is holding an autumn showcase gig next week.
The show takes place at the Ukrainian Centre, featuring a quartet of bands.
Monkey’s Fist open the show, followed by Rhiannon Jo, Half Dead Clatch and headline act Americarnage.
A show spokesman said: “Monkey’s Fist are Three harmony voices producing a mighty sound. Is there a better way to kick off an evening’s music?”
Rhiannon Jo is one half of popular Doncaster duo Rita Payne, while Half Dead Clatch is “acoustic slide stomp blues machine” Andrew McLatchie and his brand of traditional delta blues.
The spokesman said: “Americarnage offer acoustic folk at its finest.
“Doncaster’s Finest - Stuart Palmer, on acoustic guitar, Mick Swinson, on acoustic guitar or mandola, and bassist Michael Jackson will be joined by Mick Miller, on dobro, and percussionist and Richard Porter.
“Mick and Stu have been around the folk/acoustic scene for years playing contemporary, traditional and Celtic music. This line-up puts the emphasis clearly on their American influences – Woody Guthrie, Hank Williams, Bob Dylan.
