MEMBERS of a South Yorkshire brass band are celebrating after receiving a £2,000 cash boost.
The Co-operative Group’s Community Fund has awarded the money to Barnsley-based Worsbrough Brass to allow members to buy new uniforms.
The band from Worsbrough Mill, Worsbrough, was established in 1992. The grant will be used to buy the senior band a new stage uniform and blazers to replace their old outfits which are 10 years old.
Angela Dawson, from Worsbrough Brass, said: “This will give our band a more professional appearance on stage.
“Over the years we have developed and we now have a junior and senior band. Smart uniforms will help give our members a sense of responsibility and create a united organisation.”
The Community Fund offers grants of between £100 and £2,000, with Co-operative committees allocating awards based on values and principles, such as social responsibility and caring for others.
