Since going solo in 1999 she’s had six top 10 singles and two number ones, Never Be The Same Again and I Turn To You, plus more than three million album sales.

Melanie, aged 37, turned on the city’s Christmas lights on the Real Radio stage in November.

She recorded the first Spice Girls album in Sheffield with producer pal Eliot Kennedy, who helped to launch her solo career with worldwide hit When You’re Gone, the duet he co-wrote with Canadian rock superstar friend Bryan Adams.

Her first ever solo concert was at The Leadmill.

“I’ve lots of history with the city and many special memories. It’s always good to be back and it’s going to be a wonderful night.

“We’re bringing a great show, with a fantastic band and wonderful backing singers,” she told The Star.
