You may have seen Canadian singer-songwriter Annabelle Chvostek without realising it.

Playing fiddle, guitar and mandolin, she was a member of Wailin’ Jennys who had a strong following among acoustic music enthusiasts in Sheffield.

After four years, she left to pursue a solo career, and now she appears in her own right at The Greystones in Greystones Road next Wednesday.

In fact, she will be following in the footsteps of another member of Wailin’ Jennys.

Ruth Moody gave a memorable performance at The Greystones last February.

Annabelle Chvostek is touring in support of her album Rise, which is described as “indie music meets Occupy” and “a rousing celebration of recent grassroots uprisings in Canada and around the world”.

It includes covers of Peter Tosh’s Equal Rights and Lou Reed’s Some Kinda Love as well as her own songs.
