Gas main blaze - breaking news

PART of a Doncaster industrial estate was sealed off this afternoon after a huge gas main fire.

South Yorkshire firefighters are currently tackling the blaze outside the Royal Mail sorting centre on Middle Bank, off White Rose Way.

Crews from Doncaster and Edlington stations were alerted to the incident at 11.17am.

Station manager Andy Bartle said: "There are around 15 operational personnel now in attendance, with three main jets in use to cool surrounding properties."

There are no casualties, although an adjoining food manufacturing premises has been evacuated.

Transco are in attendance at the site and are seeking to isolate the main gas pipe.
