Garden house plan approved

PLANS for a new house in the garden of a Nether Edge stone villa have been approved despite objections from locals that it would be a "bland, mock, period house."

Sheffield Council City Centre, South and East Planning and Highways Area Board gave the green light to the plan to build the four storey, five-bedroomed house in Crescent Road, within the Nether Edge Conservation Area.

That was despite 12 objections complaining about the potential loss of light and privacy, noise and pollution during construction, the impact on trees and worries planned balconies would be out of character.
