Lockdown is slowly but surely coming to an end, but with the majority of us till spending more time at home then we would like there's a chance that you’ve been ploughing hours into Fifa.

The Weekend League and the furious race to get your hands on Fut Champs rewards is possibly the most time consuming and addictive aspects of the most recent Fifa games. Getting your head wrapped round how the league and rewards system works is challenging enough, so here’s a handy guide to navigate the game mode.

What is the Weekend League?

The Weekend League tasks players with completing a number of matches over a weekend in the event that they qualify for a coveted spot in the competition.

Players are ranked against similarly skilled players, with significant rewards awaiting those who perform well

In Fifa 20, EA have tweaked the format so that now if you qualify for the league, you can at least defer your entry until a weekend that suits you, rather than having to give up your time on the subsequent weekend.

How do I qualify?

Players qualify for the Weekend League by partaking in Division Rivals in Ultimate Team.

Every game you play there will earn you points, which accumulate over time and allow you entry to the Weekend League – if you’re good enough.

The number of FUT Champions Points earned for each game is dependent on your performance and current Division, so the better you are on the pitch, the more points you can earn.

How do I win rewards?

Wins are what you’re after here, and you’ll want to rack up as many of them as possible over the course of a weekend: more wins means you’ll finish with a better rank, and be eligible for better prizes.

Weekends always run from 8am on a Friday morning, and close at 8am on the Monday, and you need only play five games before you are eligible for rewards.

Of course, the more you play, the more wins you have the chance of getting, and the better your rewards could be.

When are the rewards available?

As with previous iterations of the game mode, rewards will be made available to players on Thursdays at 9am.

Only those who played at least five matches in the previous weekend are eligible for rewards.

The packs of players you receive as part of your prize package are all tradeable within Ultimate Team, apart from those players acquired as a Player Pick – these can be sold on the transfer market, however.

You don’t need to open the packs when you get them (they don’t expire), so they can be stored to open at a later date, if you so wish.
