Full steam ahead for nostalgia> SLIDESHOW

To the sound of hissing pistons and giant wheels rumbling over cobbles, wide-eyed youngsters and their train buff dads admired the enormous engines which once powered Britain's industry.

Star attraction was a 100-year-old, 15-tonne steam roller, named Leviathan after the monstrous Biblical creature.

The beast of a machine took pride of place alongside fellow veteran steam roller Victoria, whose 118th birthday is this year.

A weighty line-up of other traction engines, steam engines and locomotives made it an exciting day for loco buffs, and for kids there were hands-on crafts and arts workshops.

The annual Sheffield event brought in hundreds of people this year.

Organiser Paul Wainwright said: "It was a great success - we had both families and steam fans come along."
