Former Blue Lee on song with thousands of pupils

THOUSANDS of Sheffield schoolchildren are set to share a stage with a pop star as part of a charity choir concert.

Singer and heartthrob Lee Ryan - former member of boy-band Blue - will perform at Sheffield’s annual Young Voices concert with youngsters from across the city.

This year, along with the headline act, there will also be a second show - giving 10,000 children the chance to take part over the two nights.

The concerts will raise money for children’s charities including CLIC Sargent which cares for children with cancer, and the Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Young Voices marketing director Ben Lewis said: “It is great to have Lee on board.

“Music can play a key role in children’s development, particularly in encouraging confidence, as well as breaking down so many social boundaries.

“Children need to be inspired by music and well-known artists like Lee are an integral part in generating interest and excitement.”

Lee said he was excited to be involved in the project and added: “I am looking forward to working alongside the other artists and schools in Sheffield to give everyone the end-of-year shows to the high standard the Young Voice concerts merit.”

This year’s concerts - the 11th of their kind - will be held on November 28 and 29 at the Hallam FM Arena.
