TELEVISION chef Simon Rimmer has been lined up to speak at a Sheffield beer festival.
The Channel 4 Sunday Brunch star will appear at BeerX, held at Ponds Forge by the Society of Independent Brewers next month.
Alongside Simon will be other speakers including Garrett Oliver, Brooklyn Brewery’s Master Brewer and editor-in-chief of the Oxford Companion to Beer.
Toby Perkins, Chesterfield MP and shadow minister for small business, and Brandon Lewis, community pubs minister, are also attending.
Speeches will take place on Friday, March 15, before an expected audience of 500 brewers, licensees, suppliers and others from the brewing industry, as well as interested members of the public.
Julian Grocock, SIBA chief executive, said, “All of our speakers will be setting out their vision for British brewing.
“By bringing together figures from politics, brewing and – through Simon – the wider world of food and drink, we have created a programme with wide appeal.”
Attendance at the speeches on the Friday is free of charge, though guests must register at http://siba.co.uk/beerx/event-information
The daytime events are followed by the BeerX Festival of Beer, held each evening from March 13 to 16, which is subject to an admission charge.
