TAKEAWAY TEST: Jerk Hut, High Street, Sheffield city centre

Have your say

With the hot weather beating down as I emerged, blinking, into the sunshine on my lunch break yesterday, I knew my usual sandwich wasn’t going to cut it.

I found myself drawn to the nearby Jerk Hut, where the smell of caribbean cuisine was already wafting out on to the street. At lunchtime, all the meals are £5 during the week, so I chose a traditional barbecue chicken with seasoned rice and salad.

Eating it, I felt like I was sitting on a beach somewhere, rather than a sun-trapped city centre.

The chicken was crispy and tasty and the rice and salad were packed full of flavour. My only complaint, the chicken portion could have been a little more generous.
