Top cooking team Paulo Amaral and Paulo Ferreira met around twenty years ago when they were both working in kitchens, and later used their shared passion to set up two Sheffield restaurants together.

Now the pair have a double celebration on their hands after their venues scooped two of the top podium spots in The Star’s Italian of the Year commpetition.

The two Paulos are joint owners of Sette Colli in Hillsborough, which has taken top spot in the contest, and Paulos in Dinnington, which came second.

With over 30 years combined experience in the catering industry, both have established a name for themselves, offering high quality service and tasty and authentic Italian cuisine.

Paulo Ferreira said: “It’s fantastic news that both of our restaurants have ranked so highly.

“We are so pleased, it’s a double celebration for us.

“Paulo and I met around twenty years ago when we were both working in kitchens.

“Fifteen years ago we decided to open Sette Colli and we haven’t looked back since. That was a success so about ten years ago we decided to open Paulos to bring our food to another area of Sheffield.”

The restaurants are both described as having ‘Mexican flavour with Italian flair’, and each offer customers a wide range of dishes, from pasta to pizza and risotto to enchiladas.

Paulo Amaral said: “It’s brilliant to have won, and the customers we have told have been very pleased for us.

“It’s the ultimate reward for us to see customers enjoying our food, and I believe that authentic taste is what keeps them coming back time and time again, along with our friendly and welcoming service. We would like to thank everyone who voted for us.”

Also grateful to his customers is Arjan Prenga, owner of Mamma Mia Pepe, also in Hillsborough, which has come in third place.

He added: “Everyone here is very proud.

“The restaurant is family run and has been well established in Sheffield for over 30 years.

“We are specialists in serving homemade Italian food and our menu is full of homemade dishes with Sicilian flavours.

Everything on the menu is served with a complimentary side order of family-friendly fun.”

Settle Colli can be found at Bradfield Road, Hillsborough. Paulos is at 82-84 Laughton Road, Dinnington. Mamma Mia Pepe can be found at 380 Langsett Road, Hillsborough.
