Tapas Revolution in Sheffield, Meadowhall is delighted to be extending its popular Churros menu at their exclusive Churreria by adding an additional six optional toppings to the decadent dessert.

Churros have been one of the most popular dishes on the menu at Tapas Revolution since the restaurant opened in March 2016. The Spanish spin on mini doughnuts are cigar shaped, freshly made from choux pastry and served piping hot with a warm milk chocolate dipping sauce. The delicious new toppings on offer are; Whipped Cream, White Chocolate, Rich Toffee, Crushed Nuts, Mini Marshmallows and Strawberry Coulis. One serving of churros with milk chocolate dipping sauce costs £3.50 and guests now have the option to add an additional two toppings for £1.

Omar comments: “I’m excited to introduce these new Churros toppings to the menu; it’s a great fun way finish off a meal and perfect for those with a sweet tooth.”

No one knows the origin of Churros, but one common belief is that they originated centuries ago with Spanish shepherds. Sweet, baked goods wouldn’t last up the mountains, so the Shepherds created a delicious cake-like paste which could be cooked easily in a pan over an open fire. The churros were originally eaten plain, or rolled in cinnamon sugar but, as they’ve become more and more popular, the range of dipping sauces has expanded to include dulche de leche, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla sauce and even cheese. In Spain churros are often enjoyed for breakfast or for ‘Merienda’ – an afternoon snack. Churros are traditionally sold at ‘Churrerias’, and by street vendors, who fry them to order and serve them hot.

Since opening in March 2016, Tapas Revolution in Meadowhall has consistently brought the very best of Spanish food to the people of Sheffield, from traditional tapas to modern cuisine. Chef Omar Allibhoy and his team use only the finest Iberian ingredients sourced from small Artisan producers across Spain and freshly prepare all the dishes in-house. Served alongside premium Gin Tonics, in the traditional Copa de Balón (balloon glass).
