A Sheffield couple are starting an exciting new chapter - selling their popular restaurant, looking for another and getting married all within a few months.
Chef Charlie Curran and partner Kelly Ware, who run Peppercorn in Dore, have sold the venue after five years at the helm.
They confirmed to the Telegraph that it has been bought by the Summer House restaurant next door, and that they are now looking for a new challenge in the industry.
Kelly said: “We are looking to buy somewhere else, I can’t reveal it just yet but there will be something hopefully in the new year.
”Obviously it will be focusing on quality still as Charlie is known as a really good chef with quality food but we may do something a little bit different.
”Our last day at Peppercorn is Christmas Day when all the regulars are coming so it will be good to sit down and have a drink with them – and we will have New Year’s Eve off for the first time in our careers!
“Charlie’s kids are coming over from Australia in January and we’re looking to get married then as well. As if buying a restaurant and selling one wasn’t enough, we thought we would plan a wedding! It’s like a new chapter for Charlie and me.”
The couple opened Peppercorn as their first owned restaurant, though they previously worked at the Samuel Fox Country Inn in Hope Valley and The Beauchief hotel in Sheffield.
Kelly thanked their loyal customers, including couples who visit weekly, and said many had become friends.
”At the end of the day it’s about cooking for the people that walk through the doors and that’s what we have loved doing.”
