Mediterranean classics on menu at NeomedÂ

Tucked away around the corner, glistening with hundreds of tiny Christmas lights, enticing us in, is family owned Neomed, located at Fox Valley, every time I come here there seems to be a different restaurant that has opened, I have never been to a Mediterranean restaurant so an ideal time to try some of the delights advertised on the menu.

Downstairs is small but cosy coffee lounge offering fresh home made breads and award winning sourdoughs that are baked daily and throughout the day, which can be bought from the bakery counter. In the new year they they are planning to sell there freshly home made pasta that you can cook and enjoy at home.

We were led upstairs to the restaurant, a lovely contemporary and stylish space equally as cosy as downstairs. The lengthy menu consists of exquiste Mediterrean classics, hanging kebabs moussakka and fresh fish. Ordering a selection of starters for us to share and drinks, we weren't waiting too long before well presented dishes starting arriving, grilled halloumi, soft squeaky cheese, severed with warm soft pieces of pitta bread, complemented with a spicy quite hot chilli sauce, £5. Taste of Cyprus, warm bread, with squares of creamy feta cheese, marinated garlic olives with a selection of three dips, tzatziki, a cool creamy yoghurt with garlic and small pieces of cucumber, hummus, a thick nutty tasting dip, laced with garlic and lemon and a taramaslata, which was coloured pink and had a subtle taste. £6.50. Last but not least was artisan bruschette, small pieces of their sourdough, warm topped with tomato, onion, garlic and olive oil. £5.50. All dishes were a perfect companion to each other. For mains my son ordered spaghetti porto cesareo, a seafood classic, made with their own pasta, small seafood scattered through such as prawns, muscles, Italian clams tossed together with a subtle white wine, garlic and parsley sauce, £13. The meal was presented well the only downfall was the dish was cold, which didn't keep the pasta warm for long. My other son had Risotto ai Frutti di Mare, a luxury seafood rissotto laced with small prawns, muscles and Italian clams, £13, a small dish, which I wondered if it would have been a good enough sized portion for him. He enjoyed it and said it was flavoursome. Both me and my mum went for a hanging kebab and you guessed it, it was hanging when it came, I had Greek style pork, meat  marinated with peppers on skewers, served with proper chips, as they make all the difference, salad, cubes of feta, olives and a dipping sauce, £15. My mum had the chicken option, £14. After a hearty meal, we decided to all share a pudding, just because it sounded so nice, sticky toffee cheesecake, delicious, a toffee sauce topped with toffee pieces and small chocolate  squares, with a soft cream, £4.95. Relaxed and ambient setting, worth a visit. Our bill came to £91.55 which included five drinks.
