Local restaurants still star

Have your say

Champagne corks have popped early at three local restaurants.

The Old Vicarage at Ridgeway and Fischer’s at Baslow Hall have just learned they have kept their coveted Michelin star.

Fischer’s have held on to their star for the 18th consecutive year and Tessa Bramley at the Old Vicarage for the 14th.

Meanwhile Artisan, chef Richard Smith’s restaurant at Crosspool, has retained a Bib Gourmand (for good food at moderate prices) for the 16th year.

Normally chefs would have to wait until January to discover whether they had made it into the hallowed guide. But Michelin decided to bring forward the 2012 publication by three months – it went on sale on Friday. Michelin has said it wanted to bring the UK edition in line with its other European guides, released October to December.

Michelin has also changed the September date of its 2012 Eating Out in Pubs guide. Sheffield’s Milestone, The Inn at Trowey, The Druid’s at Birchover, Bradwell’s Samuel Fox and Beeley’s Devonshire Arms must wait until November 3 to see if they have held on to their 2011 mentions.
