FLOODS: MP reports on crisis

A SHEFFIELD MP whose constituency was among the worst affected by summer floods has reported to the Government on how the crisis was handled by the authorities.

Angela Smith, who represents Hillsborough, has made a submission to the Cabinet Office's flood review team.

She said: "From the conversations I have had, many of my constituents considered the authorities did well in some areas. However, there are things they felt could have been done better and can learn lessons from."

She said Sheffield Council "could have done some things better and quicker" and added that confusion about which organisation is responsible for maintenance of water courses should be resolved.
