Flood fund at £659,144

A RELIEF fund set up to help South Yorkshire families whose homes were devastated by floods has raised almost £660,000.

The South Yorkshire Community Foundation set up the Flood Disaster Relief Fund with the four South Yorkshire councils, Yorkshire Bank, and Hallam FM radio station. The total is now 659,144.38.

A fund run in partnership - the BBC Radio Sheffield Good Neighbour Appeal run by the station in conjunction with Community Service Volunteers - has also netted a whopping 40,027.37.

Pauline Grice, chief executive of SYCF, said: “The generosity has been amazing, but we need to urge people to give more as the need for support will last 12 to 18 months.”
