Fitness project is runner-up

A SHEFFIELD health project which provides fitness facilities to thousands of disabled people in the city has been recognised in a national awards scheme.

The Inclusive Fitness Initiative came runner-up in the health projects category of the 2007 National Lottery Awards, voted for by the public.

Bernard Athal, spokesman for the project, said: "We were thrilled to have reached the finals of the awards.

"By making facilities accessible to tens of thousands of disabled people, the Inclusive Fitness Initiative is helping raise in the number of disabled people across Yorkshire participating in leisure activities."
