A funeral service was held yesterday morning at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium, Beauchief, attended by grieving family and friends.

Mr Wiles is survived by his wife Dorothy, 82 and two sons.

A 20-year-old man and 15-year-old boy were arrested by police in connection with the death and released on bail pending further enquiries.

Detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

Mr Wiles, a retired steelworker and electrician, has been described by his son Mick as "a quiet and decent man – a true gentleman".

He said his death was "a total waste, just pointless".
