Family is driven out

NO-NONSENSE mum-of-three Melanie Kelly says she has been driven out of her home - after standing up to yobs on her Sheffield estate.

Melanie's house has been burgled twice in as many months and her TV cables have been cut.

Her car windows have been smashed, along with glass panes on her front door, and she and her children have been threatened in the street.

In the most recent attack thieves broke into her home on Swanbourne Road, Parson Cross, and stole a cylinder from the boiler causing water to flood the property.

Melanie, 31, said problems began when a youth sped off on a motorbike at 50mph with her nine-year-old son on the back - and she called the police.

She said: "I have had nothing but harassment since and it's getting worse - we've been burgled of all our electrical things, had our windows smashed in, and been threatened that we're going to be smashed in, too.

"Something needs to be done - but people are too scared to speak out because they know what will happen."

Now Melanie and her children Kelly Rosling, aged 11, Samuel Rosling, nine, and Emily Rosling, seven, are staying with family while Sheffield Homes try to find them suitable alternative accommodation.

Melanie said: "I have been driven out of my own home, my kids are terrified and we don't ever want to go back to the house."

Sheffield Homes said they were looking to impose an anti-social behaviour order against those believed to be responsible, and were working hard to find the family suitable interim accommodation until a permanent new home can be found.

Police confirmed they were investigating a number of incidents at the address and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
