Fake art in big demand

ART lovers are expected to flock to a South Yorkshire gallery tomorrow – to snap up fake paintings.

Buyers are being limited to one item per person and a doorman is being put on duty to control the crowds expected at the Limited 2 Art shop, in The Courtyard, Bawtry, Doncaster for painter John Myatt’s visit.

Shop owner Ruth Worsman suspects unscrupulous dealers will pose as collectors to buy the fakes, which are in the style of Monet.

With a movie believed to be starring George Clooney being made about the art forger’s amazing life, the value of his works is shooting up.
