Extra services for schools

A WEALTH of extra community services are to be made available at dozens of schools across Sheffield, education chiefs have announced.

Sheffield Council is including 72 schools in the Government’s Extended Schools Programme - which will be launched in the city from next week.

On offer at the sites will be parenting support, help with homework, childcare, adult education and the chance for parents to seek help from council departments.

School are also to be opened up to community groups.

Schools include primaries, secondaries and special needs sites - and Sheffield Council is hoping further schools will join the scheme as it develops.
