The Earl-y bird catches the show

So it is with interest that Earl Jackson and His Band appear at Sheffield University venue The Foyer on Saturday.

Although billed as a rock 'n' roll band they also stray into the regularly chartered waters of swing.

“Chuck Berry will be 81 this year and he has performed over 50 shows so far this year,” say your hosts. “However, without any UK dates scheduled this might be the closest you will get to hearing the rock 'n' roll legend.”

European touring regulars thanks to their album Bustin` Loose, the band had a brief fling with UK stardom after appearing on the Jonathan Ross Show in 1999. Tickets cost 13.50 from 0114 222 8777; 8pm start.
