'Double top' film show

AN AMATEUR film club in Chesterfield celebrated its 50th birthday with a special screening of two of its earliest productions.

The cine section of the Chesterfield Photographic Club - now known as Chesterfield Film Makers - was formed in 1957.

Two of its earliest black-and-white 8mm films were 'Double Top' about a darts match, and a comic film about wallpapering. They also made a film of the Mayor's Sunday procession in May 1957.

Half a century later the current Mayor, Coun Chris Ludlow, was invited to the club's 50th anniversary lunch and, after tea, found herself watching footage of the procession to the Parish Church for her own Civic Service last May.
