Don't let the litterbugs win

RESIDENTS in Netherthorpe are being asked to lend their hands to a litter pick in an attempt to spruce up the area.

Sheffield Homes is organising the litter pick in Edward Street on Thursday as part of a week of action, culminating in a family fun day on Saturday September 1.

There will be visits to homes and businesses by the city centre ambassadors to advise residents on home and personal safety and businesses on reducing the risk of commercial and car crime.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue's Community Safety Team will be fitting smoke alarms and police will be giving out free UV pens and other crime prevention items.

Sheffield Homes is organising Thursday’s litter pick and the council's Street Force team is holding a Bring Out Your Rubbish day.

The Edward Street and St Georges Tenants' and Residents' Association meeting room will be the setting for displays and information this week - including a drop-in session for information about Victim Support from 4pm until 7pm on Thursday.

The Edward Street and St Georges TARA are also having a Family Fun Day on Saturday from 1pm to 4pm. It will include competitions, games and quizzes and there will be a buffet, tombola and raffles.
