The show will see hosts Helen Skelton and Nick Baker witness the dedicated work of keepers and staff, who care for more than 400 animals at the park. Throughout the series, Helen will get up close and personal with a variety of animals, including polar bears, lemurs and the famous lions at the park in Branton.

The programme aims to highlight the hard work of zoo staff in the UK, especially raising awareness of endangered species. Viewers will get a chance to see behind-the-scenes sneak peaks at the park, where a small army of staff work around the clock to keep the park and these animals in great condition.

Viewers tuned in to see some very heart warming stories last night, and a very cute baby sloth. The show will also be revealing zoo animal stories as the series continues, including reconciliations and veterinary procedures.

The show is back on tonight, starring the park polar bears.

Channel 5’s Big Week at the Zoo will run until the August 24, and will also be available via catch up on MyFive.
