Don Valley master plan

COUNCIL bosses are set to press ahead with plans to redevelop the area around the Lower Don Valley.

Sheffield Council's cabinet is recommending approval of the River Don District Masterplan which is aiming to make the area a place where people can live and work with expanded retail and leisure and better public transport.

Early plans include the creation of a new River Don Park.

Meanwhile, Weedon Street is being earmarked for new homes, which council chiefs hope could see it reinvented "as one of the River Don's most desirable addresses."

Councillors are being asked to approve the proposals, which will then be developed in detail before future public consultation.
