Contractors act to plug shower leak

FOR 10 years Jean Westwood's shower gave sterling service, but her goodwill towards Sheffield Homes went down the plughole when it started leaking into her kitchen - three months ago.

Jean, of Goathland Place, Woodhouse, Sheffield, said an official had visited and removed plaster at the end of July.

But since then nothing had happened.

A spokesman for Keir - contractor working for Sheffield Homes - apologised and said the work had now been completed.

Meanwhile Leonard Yates is in the money after following Action Desk's advice on reclaiming mortgage exit fees.

Leonard, of Northcote Avenue, Heeley, Sheffield, sold his house last year and paid a 175 exit fee.

But after reading in Action Desk about banks being forced to make refunds after secretly inflating fees, he rang the Skipton Building Society. Three days later he received a cheque for 130.

And new bride Jill Weldon has something to smile about after Mirror Mirror Couture offered a full 1,100 refund on a wedding dress she never wore.

Jill, aged 34, of Chesterfield, was forced to wear a shop sample on her big day when the dress she ordered turned out to be too large, and it was too late to get another.

Jill's mum Yvonne said MMC, of Kiveton Park, Sheffield, had offered a refund in return for the shop sample.
