The show entertains its millionth music fan this year, with a show marking the 50th anniversary of the chart-topping single Reach Out I’ll Be There.

The show’s huge cast re-create the music of a decade of continuing the legend of solid-gold artistes The Supremes, Temptations, Jackson 5, Isley Brothers, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie and many more.

More than 36 classic songs are revived amid a flurry of glittering costume changes, starring all the dazzling dance moves and superb musicianship of the original artistes.

In 1966 The Four Tops’ signature tune was a number one hit both sides of the Atlantic.

Reach Out also enjoys the distinction of being acclaimed as this production’s stand-out performance, say the theatre company.

The Magic of Motown is at Cast in Doncaster next Friday, July 15, and it’s also at Sheffield City Hall on Saturday, October 8.

In Barnsley next weekend, the Civic is playing host to some home-grown soul music.

Aiming to play the finest soul music in its truest form, Barnsley-based band The Soul Jam say they are are one of the very few UK bands that can capture and recreate the classic sounds of soul.

Featuring live performances of some of the genre’s biggest hits, the show also includes interactive screen content to help tell the story behind soul music.

Formed in 2010, The Soul Jam are comprised largely of music teachers from the Yorkshire area, responsible for educating the next generation in all things musical!

All the members are accomplished musicians and seasoned performers.

They aim to deliver a sound that will have you singing, dancing and stamping to hits from The Commitments, The Blues Brothers, Ike & Tina Turner, Al Green, Otis Redding, Eddie Floyd, Booker T, Stevie Wonder and more.

The show Vinyl Revival Side 2 is at The Civic on Saturday, July 16 at 8pm.
