Civil unrest in park!

MORE than 30,000 civilians are preparing to become battle-hardened – watching a massive weekend war re-enactment.

Two full days of war games begin tomorrow in Norfolk Heritage Park, Sheffield, with more than 25 groups donning authentic battle kit for a series of skirmishes.

Highlights include re-enactments of the American Civil War and World War II battles and a recreation of the Last of the Mohicans story.

The huge event, involving more than 400 performers, is part of the sixth Sheffield Fayre, which also features horticultural shows.

Performers donned full battle regalia for four solid days in preparation for the two days of “fighting” on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

Fayre spokeswoman Kim McMaster said: “The line up of events is the biggest ever.”

The fayre runs from 10.30am to 5pm with free admission.
