These are the directors’ cuts of the 1979 Ridley Scott original and James Cameron’s 1986 sequel, both starring Sigourney Weaver as all action Alien killer Ellen Ripley.

The horror really begins with that cinematic golden moment when John Hurt’s chest bursts apart to give birth to the creature which has grown into one of the most terrifying monsters of the big screen.

Now, 35 years after the first film redefined science-fiction horror, the first two in the franchise - which many fans have only ever seen before on TV - are back, for one night only and exclusively on Halloween at Vue Cinema Sheffield in Meadowhall.

Alien starts on a return trip to Earth, with a seven-member crew aboard a commercial spacecraft investigate an unusual transmission from a neighbouring planet.

What they discover makes them wish they had gone home, and they are soon being stalked by a face-sucking alien that will stop at nothing to continue its legacy.

Ripley returns in the rarest of things – a sequel that managed to move the story on in a credible manner and many fans reckon it was even better than its predecessor.

This time we catch up with her battling depression, having floated in space for five decades. She returns to the planet where she and her old crew first encountered the alien threat. The colonists that had moved onto the planet have disappeared, suggesting trouble has returned.

Sure enough, Ripley finds only one survivor, a young girl named Newt, and the two must fight the alien queen.

We have tickets to be won for the 15 certificate double bill, on Friday, October 31, which starts at 8pm and ends at 1am.

Guarantee your seats. Tickets are available now, subject to availability, from £8.25 adult, £6.20 senior, £7.05 student and £6.65 teen, VIP seating also available.
