Sheffielder Ellie Ragdale, aged 24, is achieving her dream today to run her own community cinema with a special immersive showing of Disney favourite The Aristocats at the Old Junior School in Southview Road, Sharrow from 4pm to 7pm.
Handmade Cinema is being run solely by young people. Ellie said “This project is unique because we will get local children and families involved in creating the cinema through building sets in workshops, and on the night everyone dresses up for a really exciting experience. I hope to establish Handmade Cinema as Sheffield’s number one children’s interactive film club”.
The public is invited to dress in their finest cat costumes and soak up the Parisian atmosphere with a live jazz band, cat face painting and French cuisine. Cost is £1.50 per child and £2.50 per adult. Booking is not required and entry will be on a first come, first served basis.
The set has been created by professional artists who held free workshops in schools and community groups.
