Cash call by ex-prisoner
A REFORMED prisoner speaking in Sheffield has called for inmates to receive a bigger lump sum on release from jail to reduce re-offending rates.
Mark Leech, who was regularly in jail until a successful spell at a therapeutic prison, was speaking at Hallam University at a conference celebrating a century of probation.
The 49-year-old, who was released from prison in 1995, called for the money prisoners receive on release from jail to be increased so they are not tempted back to a life of crime immediately after being freed.
