Bride's blues at something old

The 34-year-old had to wear the frock - which had been tried on by many people - after problems at bridal shop Mirror Mirror Couture.

Her big day was a success, but Jill is now battling to get her money back, claiming the 1,100 she paid was for an unworn dress which she had chosen personally.

Mum Yvonne Weldon, of Martindale Close, Staveley, Chesterfield, said they paid a deposit in January but the dress did not arrive until 10 days before the July wedding.

It was a size 14 - which absolutely buried size 10 Jill.

Shop staff said they would alter it, but when Jill tried it on the skirt was still baggy, too long, and simply didn't fit.

The shop's seamstress had another go and Jill returned with just two days to go - but the dress still wasn't right.

As well as the poor fit, scallop edging, lace and beads were "a mess," Yvonne said.

In desperation Jill tried on the shop's sample dress which was a size 10 - it fitted perfectly - and she took it.

Yvonne said: "We ended up with a dress that was of inferior quality which had been tried on many times."

ACTION

A SPOKESMAN for Mirror Mirror, of Wales Road, Kiveton Park, Sheffield, said they would speak to the family to sort out the problem.

The Weldons have been asked to submit a letter concerning their complaint.
