Christian Donelan and his new wife Jennifer, both believed to be 32, were holidaying on the idyllic island of Baros when the device exploded on Saturday.

Doctors say Jennifer suffered 40 per cent burns to her body and Christian suffered 27 per cent burns. Both are expected to make a full recovery. The couple have now been flown back to England, where they are undergoing treatment at a specialist unit in Wythenshawe Hospital in the south of Manchester.

Mr Donelan, who was brought up in Rotherham, is an accomplished sportsman and played hockey for the town's hockey club.
