Barn blaze fumes warning

A BARN fire on a Sheffield farm raged through the night, prompting warnings to residents about potentially noxious fumes.

The blaze in Storrs, on the outskirts of Stannington, was reported to firefighters at around 11pm.

Police last night urged residents to keep their windows closed because of concerns about fumes from nitrogen-based fertiliser in the barn.

At its height the blaze was dealt with by crews from three engines and there were still two engines at the barn, in the grounds of Storrs Green farm on Storrs Green, this morning.
