Award for city hotelier

THE hotelier behind plans for a £38 million new five-star hotel in Sheffield has won the services to industry award at this year's Hospitality Sheffield awards.

Hermann Beck, who is liaising with Crowne Plaza to develop the new hotel between Victoria Quays and the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria, which he co-owns, also hopes to create a new 161-room Express by Holiday Inn budget hotel on an adjacent site.

More than 100 new jobs will be created through the hotels.

Mr Beck was presented with his award “in recognition of his outstanding contribution, commitment and dedication to the hospitality industry.”
