Arts fanatics top 110,000

SHEFFIELD'S community arts scene is thriving and involved more than 110,000 people in the last year, a report has revealed.

Events have ranged from contemporary dance shows - which featured 400 youngsters from around the city and were attended by 21,000 people - to a two-day football exhibition at Thorncliffe FC in High Green, and sessions for schoolchildren and college students at Sheffield Theatres.

One project involved participants aged two to 85, who were among thousands attending 550 Music in the Community sessions. Other community events included the Off The Shelf literature event and SheffieId International Documentary Festival.
