Crowds of Back To The Future fans packed into Penistone Paramount cinema recently for a charity screening of the famous 80s trilogy.
And many cinema-goers chose to dress the part – turning up in their best Marty McFly or Emmett ‘Doc’ Brown garb, posing for photographs with a visiting DeLorean – which will feature in this weekend’s Penistone’s Mayor’s Parade.
The event, which raised funds for various local charities, was organised by Penistone Round Table – a voluntary organisation which organises the Mayor’s Parade and Gala, Penistone Bonfire and Santa’s Sleigh Run.
Organiser Jon Gilbert, of Penistone Round Table, said: “We had well over a hundred people in to watch the films, raising hundreds of pounds for charity.
“It all ties in with the Time Travel theme of this weekend’s Penistone Gala and was the first of a number of events we have planned. Lovers of the films will, of course, recall that 2015 was the year of the future visited in Back To The Future 2, so we thought it would be a thoroughly appropriate theme.”
Tickets for the gala – which kicks off on Friday night with Comedy In A Tent, can still be bought.
The gala also features the Festival of Folk and Britpop Concert on Saturday and finishes up with the Mayor’s Parade and Gala Day on Sunday.
