Barnsley folk superstar Kate Rusby and poetry king Ian McMillan head a free all-star festive show now available to watch online.

The concert of song, music, poetry and spoken word also features performances from Tom Masters (Barnsley Youth Choir), Worsbrough Brass, The Civic & Cross the Sky Theatre Company, Helen Mort, Elouise Unerman, Ray Hearne, WE Great Ladies and The Wentworth and Elsecar Young Writers.

Uplifting renditions, including original work and well-loved classics, are performed at the town’s iconic museum and heritage sites including Cannon Hall, Elsecar Heritage Centre, Worsbrough Mill, The Cooper Gallery, outside Experience Barnsley at Barnsley Town Hall and Wentworth Castle Gardens.

The show has also been recorded on DVD’s, which are being distributed across the borough’s care homes.

Coun Tim Cheetham, Cabinet Spokesperson for Place (Regeneration and Culture) said: “It’s been a really tough year for everyone and what is needed more than ever is some festive cheer and that’s exactly what the Barnsley Museums online concert intends to do!

"With heart-warming performances from talented local artists, it will raise a smile and allow people to experience the beauty of our heritage sites even from afar. We do hope people will watch.”
