Tramlines 2021: Will you need a Covid passport and what to do if you don't feel safe attending

Organisers yesterday unveiled the exciting line-up for the three-day event in July at Hillsborough Park, with The Streets, Royal Blood and Richard Ashcroft confirmed as headliners.

The Government aims to lift all legal limits on social contact from June 21, marking the final phase of its roadmap out of lockdown and enabling large events like festivals to go ahead.

But this is subject to the results of pilot events like the World Snooker Championship currently being held in Sheffield where spectators required to take a Covid test before and after attending.

The Government is still considering whether Covid passports, providing proof of vaccination, natural immunity due to previous infection, or a recent negative test, could be required at large events to reduce the risk of transmission.

What happens if Tramlines is postponed due to Covid?

Tramlines’ organisers have assured ticket holders that if this year’s festival is postponed due to Covid-19, their tickets will be valid for 2022 or they can request a refund.

Regarding extra safety measures this year and whether visitors will need a Covid passport, they said: “We are following government guidelines and working closely with the local authorities to ensure safe Covid-19 standards are met.

“As government guidelines change regularly, we are working to ensure the rules and regulations at the event are adapted to the most up-to-date rules.

They added: “As per current Covid 19 guidelines, ‘Vaccine Passports’ are currently not a condition of entry to Tramlines. As it stands, we don’t know what requirements the Government will put in place for us to hold the festival this year. We should have a clearer picture as they continue to define the roadmap over the next few months.

What to do if you don’t feel safe attending?

If ticket holders don’t feel safe attending, organisers say refunds can’t be issued but for peace of mind people can swap the name on a ticket at any time if they wish to pass it on.

As in previous years, people will have the opportunity closer to the event to re-sell their ticket through Gigantic should they no longer wish to attend.
