The 21-year-old singer was inspired to create a stripped-back version of the single about someone who is caught up in their past relationship, after she realised she first released the original ‘Chocolate’ 12 months ago.

Chanel worked with producer Tom Auton virtually, from his home in Wales, to create the new acoustic remix of the song in just one day – while the new music video to ‘Chocolate Acoustic’ created with Hove and Co Photography is out next week on Wednesday, January 27.

"I love 'Chocolate' it's one of my favourite songs that I have released in general, I just think it's such a happy, upbeat song but I never had a music video for it", the Broomhill musician said.

"I kind of just wanted to take it to another level and have a different variant of it.

"It's another range of people you hit with an acoustic track as well, obviously the existing fans love it but then you've got more fans who might love it from different generations who like to listen to more laid back tracks.”

The 21-year-old explained how she was motivated to create new music following her audition success on The Voice.

"We are all in lockdown again and we all want new music to listen to,” she said.

"I've been on The Voice so it's now a chance for me to get some more music out there while more people are listening and know my name."

Chanel will now battle against fellow singers in Anne-Marie’s team as part of the next stage of the competition.

"When you are on that stage it's the most nerve-wracking minute of your life before the song starts playing and you've just got four people just with their backs to you and you know how amazing they are in the music industry. They are like pioneers. It's crazy”, she said.

"Anne-Marie turned around so quick, it was like the first line I started singing and she turned.

"While I was singing I had to kind of compose myself, it's so hard when you're so excited about it.

"To get that sort of appreciation and recognition from somebody as amazing as Anne-Marie is enough in itself to just make me want to keep doing music.

"It's the validation that you kind of need as an artist that somebody is listening and somebody actually cares so it has just given me that massive boost to keep going and get a number one single."

The songwriter’s track ‘Chocolate Acoustic’ is out now on all major music streaming sites.
