The EP will also be released as a limited edition 10-inch lathe-cut vinyl by Sheffield’s Do It Thissen Record Label.

The name EP refers to Sheffield’s Hybrid 3 rehearsal rooms, where the band write and record every Sunday morning, to avoid competing with noise from other bands.

Rob Gordon, founder of Warp Records, lent the band his Korg synthesiser and mastered the final tracks.

Polyhymns say they write and produce a mixture of electronic experimental music and psychedelic alt-folk songs. Andrew Bolam, Gavin Harris and Sam Smith all previously worked together in folktronica group Little Glitches.

Their first meeting was in a local night club chill out room bonding over a shared love of Burt Bacharach and Aphex Twin. The group take inspiration from Sheffield’s landscape, from the millstone grit to the ancient woodlands.

In their formative years Andrew spent time making primitive computer music on an old PC. Sam cut his teeth working in the Ninja Tune office in London and as a lighting engineer for both E17 and the legendary Blue Note Club.

Gavin started his musical trajectory playing a snare in a pit village marching band.

They further developed their musical skills at Red Tape Studios, where they were mentored by bass player Jah Wobble and members of Pulp.

Their first single Down with the Kids, released in May, featured on the BBC Introducing Mixtape.
