Nostalgic music show hosted by Sheffield's Chapeltown Forum
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the D Day landings and 80 years since the outbreak of World War Two, so Chapeltown Forum decided to mark both events with a little bit of nostalgia.
Forum member Susan Housley, a vocalist whose stage name is Susan St Nicholas, suggested that they should not let the dates slip by.
In conjunction with John Housley, the forum’s chairman, she linked up with Alan Hackney, a conductor of his own band, Class Act.
They decided to perform vintage classics at the event on Friday (June 14) from 7.30pm till late at Newton Hall, Cowley Lane, Sheffield.
The event will feature Sue and her son, fellow vocalist Nick James another vocalist, who will be visiting Sheffield and agreed to perform also some classics from bygone eras.
Susan said: “The plan will be for a musical evening of standards, right back from the 30s to the 60s, to cover some great songs that everyone will know and love.”
She said it’s a real family affair for them as her husband Mike will be in charge of the sound.
There will be a bar and light refreshments provided by the Royal British Legion.
The Forum is encouraging members of the audience to dress up in costume from those decades.
Tickets are £6 and are available from the RSPCA charity shop on Loundside, Chappachino Coffee Shop and the Foot Clinic on Station Road, or Time for Tea on Burncross Road, next to the garden centre.
