Lane7 was due to launch its latest branch near the top of The Moor this autumn but after a slight delay has now announced it will open there in December.

The quirky chain promises customers a trendier alternative to the traditional plastic tables and moulded seats – and, besides bowling, attractions at its other joints include mini-golf, retro arcade games and pool tables.

Lane7 has yet to reveal an opening date for its Sheffield alley but it is advertising a number of jobs at the premises.

The roles, available through Indeed, include a duty manager, earning up to £19,000 a year; an assistant manager, on up to £21,000 a year; and a lane technician, who it says is urgently needed.

Announcing it would open next month, Lane7 said: “Boutique bowling is coming to Sheffield next month and while we line up the pins and polish our balls, there's one important thing you need to decide - who's on your squad?”

Lane7’s opening will come hot on the heels of H&M launching its new store at the top of The Moor earlier this month, with Monki just over the road opening a few days later and a third fashion outlet Weekday due to open next door this Friday, November 29.

The firm already has branches in cities including Newcastle, Birmingham and Liverpool, where the chic aesthetic contrasts industrial lighting and bare brick walls with cabaret lamps and plush seating.

It has described how the two-storey venue in Sheffield will be a ‘family-friendly’ attraction during the day, before transforming into a ‘bustling nightlife destination’.

The number of lanes has yet to be confirmed, but Lane7’s director Tim Wilks previously said he expected it to feature at least 10.
